Next Tuesday - No Meeting

Hi Everyone,

I'll be away next week so there won't be a meeting. The workshop went well today, good to see everybody was working in groups helping each other.

We saw some fabulous videos by members today. I was impressed. Good work.

Here is my humble contribution of the outing to Ormiston House last week in a sketch called BETTY AND BERT GO HOUSE HUNTIN' WITH FRIENDS.

The following week, Tuesday 1st of March, we have a professional Videographer coming to talk to us

Check the blog Friday before the meeting as I won't be able to send out emails to everyone.

SEE YOU ON MARCH 1st AT THE LIBRARY

Next Meeting Tuesday 16 February 11.000am at the library

Hi Members,

I know I told everyone that I'd be away on Tuesday. In a Senior Moment, I was a week ahead of myself. It also means we won't have a guest speaker.

SO!
Let's have a proper workshop. We'll start off with hopefully lots of members' videos.

Bring along your laptops, MacBooks with your editing software and your raw footage from Ormiston House and we'll help each other creating stunning videos.

You can work in groups if you like either on the Ormiston project, or if you prefer to work on your private projects, that's fine too. Ask questions of other members and tell us your tips and tricks.

SEE YOU ON TUESDAY

First Meeting - Tuesday, 2 February 2016 - 11.00am

Hi Everyone,

Ready for another exciting video year? This term we are trying a new format. We'll meet on the first and third Tuesdays at the library and on the second and fourth Tuesdays we'll go on film shoots to capture material which we'll work with at the library meetings.

Let's begin our first meeting, with one of our own 1 minute or less productions. So, your challenge, if you haven't already done so, is to film and edit a short film of about one minute duration between now and the first meeting and bring it along on a memory stick for us to watch.

The main topic for our first meeting will be the Green Screen, or Chroma Key effect. What is it and how does it work? It's not hard, anyone can do it.

GREEN SCREEN EFFECT
A green screen is just that, a green screen, but without 'Chroma Keying' it is not much use. Chroma Keying is the process by which a specific colour element (chroma) is removed from a video scene and replaced (keyed) with a different element. Essentially it's the way video producers remove one background and replace it with another. You have seen that lots of times in films and on television.

The good news ist that with today's editing software, we can just about all do that.

The following programs certainly can do that:

- Adobe Premier
- Final Cut Pro

- Filmora
- iMovie
- Movie Maker

We'll talk about how to do that using the Green Screen Method or Chroma Key. It's not hard. This video below took me all of 15 minutes to produce.

The limits of using the Green Screen technique are only our imaginations.

We'll have a couple of new members joining us this year, so please make them very welcome.

SEE YOU ON THE 2nd FEBRUARY. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Next Meeting Tuesday 1 December 11.00am

Hi Everyone,

On Tuesday, we'll look a a totally free editing program with punch equal to Final Cut Pro X, Premier and all the other very expensive programs, and it runs both on Apple and on PCs. (I wish I had known of this when we did our Movie Making classes). But it's never too late, we'll look at it closely.

While in Melbourne I had a chance to visit the set of the TV drama WENTWORTH while they were filming. I'll have some shots of their equipment.

SEE YOU TUESDAY
